THE BANNERS ARE HERE!
BFF Omaha, along with the Benson BID and Benson Creative District, is unveiling new banners along Maple St. and within the heart of Benson!
32 banners feature original work from 16 local artists, selected from a juried submission process over the winter. 90+ artists submitted 160 designs, making the decision a tough one. The 16 selected banner designs made their debut in June 2023.
The new Benson banners will feature art by:
Anthony T. Pena, Bart Vargas, Bekah Jerde, Brooke Carpenter, C+C Mini Factory, Danielle Easdale, Eduardo Gardea, Jared Spence + Bill Sitzmann, Jenna Jaffery, Kaitlin Kratky, Kendra Limon, Lx, Maggie Costello, Nash Bellows, Reagan D Pufall, and Tim Guthrie
July 7th First Friday event goers are invited to take a guided tour of the new banners and hear talks from some of the artists during July 7th First Friday. The banner tour will meet at the BFF Gallery (5901 Maple St) and will depart at 7:30.
Banners will be displayed from June 2023-TBD.

FAQs
Q: Does my artwork need to be exactly 22”x 36”?
A: No. Artwork that is oriented vertically (tall rather than wide) will generally be accepted.
Q: Do I need to be a 2D artist to participate in this project?
A: No. As long as your work is documented in a way that will translate well when printed on a banner - you are encouraged to participate. In 2017, we had many submissions of ceramic and other sculptural work.
Q: How long will the banners be displayed, and what happens to the banners when they are taken down?
A: The banners will be displayed for an undetermined amount of time starting in March 2023. After that, they are put into storage. In the future, we hope to take all of the banners from 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023 and display them all together.
Q: What does dpi mean?
A: DPI stands for “Dots Per Inch” and is a term that describes the resolution of an image. This video might be helpful: https://youtu.be/1st3oc-Q6bE
Q: Do I need to create new work for this project?
A: No. This project is designed with artists in mind. We know you’re busy, and we encourage you to use this as an opportunity to display existing work. However, you can absolutely create new work for this project if you want to.
