Especially in strange times like these, we find ourselves turning to and witnessing the power that art can have on our community. This summer, we’ve installed a number of public art pieces - free standing sculptures, window displays, performances, written messages, etc - all aimed at raising spirits, raising awareness, and creating necessary conversation and action within the Omaha community.
And now we are embarking on a much larger public art project: a mural that will be 15’H x 115’L on a highly visible exterior wall in the midtown area. This mural will be implemented by a group of local artists - Trudy Swanson, Sarah Rowe, Alex Jochim, Sarah Hummel Jones, Brain Tait, & Ally Nelson - and will support and advocate for social justice issues that we see as important to creating awareness, education, and peaceful coexistence in our community. Issues advocating for homelessness, the Black community, the Indigenous community, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, immigration, violence against women, environmental justice, and ‘normalizing the boob’ will all be represented by our artists on this mural.
We are very hopeful that by placing these issues in the public eye, via a large-scale beautiful wall of art, it will help to create a much-needed dialogue & positive change in our community.
We are currently seeking monetary support & physical donations for this project!
Physical needs include paints, primer, rollers, tarps, tape, ladders, a lift/cherry picker, or anything to support our artists.
Please contact Alex Jochim at alex@bffomaha.org to coordinate any physical donations.
Monetary donations can be made electronically below or by check written to “BFF” & mailed to:
BFF 2729 N. 62nd St. Omaha, NE 68104.

We thank you for your time and consideration - and we hope you will enjoy this mural and take part in advocating for its’ represented issues.
Sincerely,
Trudy Swanson, Alex Jochim, Sarah Rowe, Sarah Hummel Jones, Brain Tait, Ally Nelson, & the BFF Crew
