Here is a small photo gallery of abandoned pieces of furniture throughout the Benson area. After an hour of wandering aimlessly through the Benson neighborhood just south of Maple St., we stumbled across this beauty that looks like it could've been stowed away in a hospital for the past 20 or so years. You can take a look at this shabby old girl on the intersection of Ohio and 56th St! Next we have a pretty sweet velvet couch complete with a '90s feather pattern. This comfortable sofa only has a few stains and a limited amount of old cat hair. Old and a little sad, this "FREE" couch can be spotted resting at the corner of 48th and Wirt. After about 3 hours of galavanting, we decided it was about time to retire, but not before snagging some pictures of this little blue recliner boy stationed behind Benson High School.

Free stuff is always great. I find it quite generous that someone would give away their furniture for free. Most of the people I know would rather sell their furniture, but I understand some of them because they want to at least make some money out of something that they bought. When I moved house, I gave away my furniture for free, but I gave them to my relatives. They were very thankful for what I did and it felt so good that I was able to make them happy even through simple things like that.

It's better to buy new furniture instead of getting the free one. The best time to buy new furniture depends on what you plan to buy and whether you care more about having a wide selection or about getting the very best deal. In general, look for furniture sales around 3-day weekends, in January and early February, and in July.
