PETSHOP

Petshop Gallery is a shared creative space in Benson with galleries, studios, offices, and event space. Artists work here year-round, using the space for exhibitions, studios, meetings, and public events. Petshop is active and flexible by design. The mix of tenants, exhibitions, and programming changes regularly, shaped by the artists who use the space and the neighborhood around it.

In the Galleries

Curated by Joe Addison, ​Petshop hosts monthly exhibitions, with openings during First Friday art walks 6-10pm. Gallery hours every Thursday 5-7pm or upon request via joe@bffomaha.org

Petshop is available for musical and performance bookings! Please fill out the form below ​to set up a private event or performance, or schedule a stop on your tour!

Studio Tenants

Petshop offers dedicated studio space for artists working on an ongoing basis. Studio tenants maintain their space regardless of public programming, supporting consistent creative work within a shared, active building.

History and Key Staff

June 2012

Taking over what was a defunct exotic pet store, Petshop was founded as a studio & gallery space in June 2012 by Ben McQuillan, Jamie Danielle Hardy, & Alex Jochim.

July 2012

Next door, within the same building, a similar space dubbed Sweatshop was founded in July 2012 - featuring a gallery and live music venue -  by Kim Darling, Sarah Rowe, Alex Jochim, Jamie Danielle Hardy, Dan Cavanagh, & Caitlin Little.

2015

A wall was knocked down and the two became one under the name PETSHOP.

2018

PETSHOP expanded further north, to encompass 2725, 2727, & 2729 N. 62nd Street. This new addition holds additional studio spaces, along with the offices, meeting space, and storage for BFF Omaha.
